KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team is once again preparing to compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship, as its second-place seeding in the East Division sets up a home matchup with the Indiana (Pa.) Crimson Hawks, the West Division's third seed, in the quarterfinal game at 6 p.m. at Keystone Field.
The Golden Bears (11-4-1, 9-4-1 PSAC East) claimed its spot as one of the top five teams in the PSAC East Division after a stellar regular season, and are set to meet the Crimson Hawks (14-2-2, 11-2-1 PSAC West) in Kutztown's fifth consecutive postseason appearance. While the records may favor the visiting team, it was Kutztown that played the underdog role as the third seed a season ago, upsetting No. 2 West Chester and top-seeded Gannon on its way to the PSAC Championship Game. The Golden Bears will look to do the same again, not only facing a top-heavy West Division, but a stacked East Division grouping that features strong offensive and defensive units.
The Golden Bears hold a 5-4-1 edge against the Crimson Hawks, including a 2-0 win in the most recent meeting in 2018 at IUP. The teams have an even, 3-3-1 record in eastern Pennsylvania, while KU has a 2-1 advantage when playing out west. Since their last meeting, these are two very different programs, and are both looking to build on momentum they have drummed up over the past several seasons. Kutztown is No. 4 in the latest Atlantic Region Rankings, while IUP is just below them at No. 5.

The winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal will face the winner of the game between the West's top-seeded Slippery Rock and the East's fifth-seeded Millersville on Friday, Nov. 14. The host of the final two rounds is set to be the highest remaining seeded team in the East Division, or the top seed in the West Division if there are no remaining East Division teams.
