Kutztown, Pa. – Kutztown women's soccer continued PSAC play with an impressive game against Mansfield on Saturday, earning a 4-0 victory away to extend their winning streak against the mountaineers to 25 consecutive games.
The Golden Bears (5-0-1 overall, 3-0 PSAC East) controlled the game from the beginning with Emma Gonzalez (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) opening the scoring 16 minutes into the game. Jenna Piltz (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) continued 15 minutes later to bring the score 2-0 into halftime. Kutztown came out fast with a goal at the 47th minute into the 2nd half with Jenna Piltz (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) notching her second of the game. Freshman Ava Leatherman (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) got her first goal of her college career to end the game, 4-0 at 66th minute.
Kutztown dominated throughout the game with a staggering 44-0 advantage in shots, and 12-0 in shots on goal.
KU controlled possession earning 14 corner kicks while holding Mansfield without a single corner.
The victory also marked another historic defensive performance for Kutztown. The Golden Bears recorded their 23rd shutout against Mansfield since the teams first met in 2002, including their fourth consecutive shutout against the Mountaineers.
Kutztown will return home for its Morgans Message game against Shippensburg on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m., from Keystone Field.
