Kutztown, Pa. – No. 17 Kutztown women's soccer held off Shippensburg with an early goal to earn a 1-0 victory Wednesday night at Keystone Field, avenging a 1-0 road loss to the Raiders during the 2025 season.
Last week's PSAC Athlete of the Week, freshman forward Carly Louey (Hanover, Pa./South Western), found the back of the net early in the first at the 25th minute to put Kutztown ahead, 1-0. The Golden Bears (6-0-1 overall, 4-0 PSAC East) maintained the lead for the remainder of the match despite Shippensburg's effort to find an equalizer, including a close opportunity for the Raiders that struck the crossbar midway through the first half.
Kutztown led the offensive effort, outshooting Shippensburg 19-4 and putting 10 shots on goal compared to one for the Raiders.
The Golden Bears were unable to extend their lead in the second half, as play remained largely in the midfield with both teams battling back and forth. Kutztown's defense continued to limit Shippensburg's opportunities and preserved the 1-0 advantage through the final whistle.
Wednesday's result gave Kutztown its fourth shutout of the season and third consecutive shutout in PSAC play.
Kutztown heads back on the road to face Bloomsburg on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m., in another PSAC East matchup.
