BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – No. 17 Kutztown women's soccer scored the game's opening goal from one of its captains,
Maura Day (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington), but Bloomsburg tallied two unanswered goals to give KU its first defeat of the 2026 regular season, falling 2-1 Saturday afternoon on the road in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division game.
Â
The Golden Bears (6-1-1 overall, 4-1 PSAC East) had started the year on a seven-game unbeaten streak before Saturday.
Â
Day netted her second goal of the season in the 13th minute, on an assist by
Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) to give the visitors the early 1-0 lead. But the Huskies (4-3, 3-3) tied the game just 3:08 later as the teams went to halftime deadlocked at 1-1. BU once again found the back of the net in the 54th minute, and that proved to be the game winner as the Maroon and Gold were unable to answer.
Â
Morgan O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) finished with one save in net. Kutztown outshot Bloomsburg 19-4 overall and 8-3 on net and also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.
Â
Kutztown returns home for a nationally-ranked contest against West Chester next Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m., from Keystone Field.
