KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University men's cross country is excited for another season and will look to keep the momentum going in 2024.
Â
The Golden Bears had their best finish at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship meet since the 2019 season, placing sixth out of 16 teams. The majority of the lineup is back this season, including eight of the nine runners at PSACs. Head coach
Ray Hoffman noted that two of those competitors will be redshirting, but the roster is still strong with experience and talent.
Â
"The men have a solid group of returners led by
Adam Brocato (Reisterstown, Md./Calvert Hall),
Robby Lloyd (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North),
Kayden Platania (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional),
Jacob Huber (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) and
Cody Schabener (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township)," said Hoffman. "Two of those guys have been named All-PSAC in previous seasons. We will be red shirting both
Jack Hollar (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and
Port Habalar (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) this season. We look forward to adding newcomers
Peyton Small (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown),
Willie Wiles (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford),
Joey Pittman (Stafford, Va./Stafford) and
Sean Carpenter (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) who all had great success at the high school level last year."
Â
Kutztown has four meets during the regular season again this year, including the annual home meet at North Campus Course on Friday, Sept. 13, at 5:45 p.m. KU begins its campaign on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the West Liberty Invitational at 4 p.m. PSAC Championships are set for Saturday, Oct. 26, from North Campus Course.
