Graham ties for second as women's golf wraps up fall season with Battle at Bulle Rock

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) registered the second-lowest round of all players with a 78, Tuesday, to finish in a tie for the runner-up spot and help the Kutztown University women's golf surge into sole possession of third-place at the conclusion of the Battle at Bulle Rock.

Graham tallied four pars and a birdie on the front nine, going out in 5-over par 41, but she really shined on the back nine with six pars and another birdie to go 1-over for a round of 78, tied for her third best of the fall. Graham's birdies came on the par 4, 351-yard ninth and par 4, 312-yard 16th. The Carlisle native ended the tournament at 19-over 163 (85-78), which matched Alvernia's Cassidy Miksich for second overall.

Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) made the biggest leap of any Golden Bear in the final round, cutting 12 shots off her round Monday to shoot a career-best 83. Klements led the team with three birdies on Tuesday, including back-to-back birdies on the par 4, 346-yard 10th and the par 5, 579-yard 11th. Klements went 95-83=178 (+34) for the tournament, earning a spot just outside the top 10 in 12th.

Kutztown actually claimed the 12th, 13th and 14th positions in the individual standings with Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) (91-89=180) and Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) (92-89=181) in close pursuit of Klements.

Stutz and Cohen each carded final round 89s. Stutz had a birdie on No. 4, a par 4 playing at 335 yards to go along with five pars. Cohen also had five pars during her season-low round.

Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) collected four pars and a birdie on the par 3 third to finish with a 90. Babinchak held 19th in the final standings (97-90=187) to put all five competing Bears in the top 20 of the 33-player field.

York (Pa.), which placed its four scoring golfers in the top 10, won the tournament by six shots over Alvernia with a 36-hole total of 97-over 673 (343-330). Kutztown broke free from a third-place tie with Jefferson entering play Tuesday by outscoring the Rams by 16 strokes. The Golden Bears took third with a 702 total (363-339), while Jefferson settled for fourth at 718 (363-355). Hood rounded out the top five at 762 (381-381).

Katie Lapinsky of Alvernia was the tournament medalist with a two-day total of 159 (+15). Lapinsky shot a tournament-best 77 in the final round to secure the win by four shots over KU's Graham and Alvernia teammate Miksich.

Kutztown will take a break from play until the spring season. The 2024 portion of the Bears' schedule has not yet been finalized, but the PSAC Championship will once again be held at Kutztown's Berkleigh Golf Club, April 26-28.
