CICERO, N.Y. -- Kutztown University women's golf concluded the two-day Le Moyne Fall Invitational with a sixth-place finish, Sunday, at the Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club.
Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) matched her opening round score with another 86 (+14) on the par 72 course, which played at 5,854 yards. Despite a solid round with nine pars, Knecht fell from 12th to 17th in the final individual standings with a final score of 28-over 172 (86-86).
Olivia Donnini (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood) was the second-lowest scorer for the Bears on the day with a 91, while
Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) and
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) carded 93s. Babinchak finished 30th overall with a 182 (89-93), Donnini was 31st (94-91=185) and Cohen tied for 32nd (95-93=188).
Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) moved up to 37th in the final standings after slashing 10 shots off her opening round score with a 95 Sunday. Peet shot 200 (105-95) for the tournament.
Kutztown slipped from fifth to sixth in the team standings, concluding play with a two-day total of 727 (364-363).
Dominican (N.Y.) came from five shots back to tie Adelphi for the tournament title with scores of 89-over 665. Le Moyne was third (671), Assumption fourth (694) and Saint Anselm (723) completed the top five.
The Golden Bears will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Dickinson Invitational.
