KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Skylar Miller (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) established new personal records in the javelin and long jump on her way to a personal best and sixth-place finish in the Gold section of the heptathlon at the Kutztown-hosted Mondschein Multi, Thursday.
The junior came into the final three events seventh in the section, but amassed more than 500 points in all of them to bump up a spot in the final standings.
Miller exceeded 16 feet in the long jump, with a best effort of 4.90m (16'1") and 532 points. She followed that up with her top event finish of the meet, hurling the javelin 34.51m (113'2"), second to only Edinboro's Jayna Galley, for 562 pts.
Miller ended the day with a time of 2:44.09 (527 pts.) in the 800m, giving her a new personal record overall in the heptathlon with 3,847 points.
Freshman teammate
Elizabeth Mohler (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) also took part for the Golden Bears, holding onto the 10th-place position she occupied to begin the day. Mohler, from Elverson, Pa., totaled 2,908 points.
Kutztown will send athletes to the Bucknell Bison Open Friday and Saturday.
