KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's basketball team (3-4, 2-0 PSAC) played a complete 60-minute game, downing Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foe Clarion (0-6, 0-2 PSAC) 77-39 Saturday afternoon at Keystone Arena.
KU captured its second straight win on the back of a 52.2% three-point shooting percentage and a smoldering defensive effort. Annie Whalen (Ivyland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) led the offensive charge, scoring 15 points while shooting 5-6 from three. Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) had a solid offensive showing, grabbing five boards while scoring 12 points. 11 of the 12 Golden Bears that got into the contest registered a basket.
KU dominated from beginning to end, having a 17-point advantage at halftime. The Golden Bears didn't let off the gas and cruised to the 77-39 victory. It's Kutztown's best offensive and defensive showing in 2022, scoring 15 more points than its previous team high.
After a massive win over No. 15 Gannon on Friday, the Golden Bears improved to 2-0 in conference play and won back-to-back games for the first time this season. KU will make the trip to Holy Family this Wednesday, Dec. 7 in another non-conference contest. That game will tip off at 6 p.m.
