RESULTS
NORTH EAST, Pa. -- Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) rallied to shoot an 80, tied for the ninth-best round on Saturday, in leading the Kutztown University women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Evann Parker Memorial.
The Golden Bears leaped over Ursuline in final round action with a 358 team score. Ursuline was 16 shots off KU's pace during Saturday's round.
Knecht got in a groove with the par 72 Lake View Country Club course her second time around. After shooting 94 Friday, Knecht chopped 11 shots off in the final round to finish tied for 25th overall at 30-over 174.
Alexis Perez (Pearland, Texas/J. Frank Dobie) stayed relatively consistent with a 91 in relation to yesterday's 88. The Texan finished just outside the top 30 in 32nd with a two-day total of 179 (+35).
Olivia Donnini (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood) and
Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) were wedged next to one another at tournament's end. The KU tandem sported matching 186 (+42) for the tournament.
Molly Agnello (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) also played for the Bears and put down a final round 94. The Bears' 2-5 players were departed by just three students.
Franklin Pierce backed up its 317 Friday with another Saturday to claim the women's team title by 10 shots over Charleston,W.Va. Gannon, Mercyhurt and West Chester finished 3-5, respectfully.
Kutztown remains in Erie to start the two-day Gannon Invitational on Sunday.
