MOHNTON, Pa. -- Kutztown University women's golf got top 10 finishes from
Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) and
Olivia Donnini (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood), Tuesday, leading the Golden Bears to a fourth-place showing in the Alvernia Fall Invitational at LedgeRock Golf Club.
Knecht was in contention for medalist honors after navigating the par 72, 5,810-yard course in 85. With eight pars and a birdie on the par 3 10th, the junior ultimately wound up in a three-way tie for seventh, four shots off the pace.
Sneaking into the top 10 was Donnini, one shot behind Knecht with a season-low 86. The junior from Wapwallopen, Pa., also had a birdie, but hers came on the the third-longest hole of the day, the par 5, 499-yard eighth. Donnini supplemented round with six pars.
Rounding out the scoring for Kutztown were
Molly Agnello (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) (91) and
Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) (92). Agnello totaled seven pars to tie for 16th overall, while Babinchak had six in a round that was good for a share of 18th.
Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton), who made her collegiate debut this past weekend at the Kutztown Fall Invitational, drew into the Golden Bears' lineup for the first time Tuesday. She placed 32nd with a 106.
Alvernia backed up its win at the Kutztown Fall Invitational yesterday by putting three golfers in the top four to defend its home course with a winning score of 338 (+50). Jefferson was second at 345, followed by West Chester (353), Kutztown (354) and Millersville (358).
McKylie Boreman and Katie Lapinsky of the host Golden Wolves were matched by Jefferson's Ammala Moua for medalist honors with rounds of 81, but Moua won out on a tiebreaker.
Kutztown will conclude its fall schedule Sunday, Oct. 17, at the ESU Fall Invitational.
