Knecht ties for low round Monday, Bears finish fourth at Kutztown Fall Invitational

FINAL RESULTS

FLEETWOOD, Pa. -- Moselem Springs Golf Club absorbed nearly an inch of rain overnight, but skies cleared in time to contest the final round of the Kutztown Fall Invitational Monday afternoon. Junior Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) made the most of the opportunity, tying for the low score on the day with an 81 en route to a fourth-place finish for both her and the Golden Bears.

Knecht followed up a nine-par performance on Sunday with seven more Monday. The North Charleston, S.C., native showed a three-shot improvement on the back nine, but played a consistent tournament overall with a two-day total of 164 (83-81) and concluded play just five shots back of medalist Alexandra Lowder of West Chester.

Sophomore Alexis Perez (Pearland, Texas/J. Frank Dobie) equaled Knecht for the team-high in pars coinciding with her rise up the leaderboard. Perez shot 89 after an opening round 95, placing her in a tie for 17th with teammate Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) in the 36-player field.

Babinchak, coming off a round of 88 Sunday, carded a 95 to close out her tournament. The second year Bear from Hazleton recorded a pair of pars on the back nine.

Another pair of KU golfers found themselves together in the final standings as Molly Agnello (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and Olivia Donnini (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood) tied for 21st with two-day totals of 187 (+47).

Agnello lowered her score by seven shots from the first round to check in with the Maroon and Gold's third-lowest round Monday. She enjoyed a strong front nine with a 6-over par 41 that included a birdie on the par 4, 375-yard sixth and three pars.

Freshman Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) collected her first collegiate birdie on No. 16, a par 4 playing at 350 yards, and closed with a 97 to lead Kutztown's individual entries. Kayla McMahon (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) and Alexis Verdes (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) also competed as individuals.

Kutztown will play its third round in as many days when it heads to nearby Mohnton for the Alvernia Fall Invitational at LedgeRock Golf Club Tuesday. The fall schedule wraps up Sunday, Oct. 17, at the ESU Fall Invitational.
