EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell by a 7-2 decision to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division rival East Stroudsburg University Saturday afternoon at East Stroudsburg High School.
 
After being swept by East Stroudsburg (3-8, 1-3 PSAC) in doubles action and entering singles down 3-0, the duo of Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg)'s back-to-back wins helped bring the Golden Bears within striking distance, 3-2.
 
Konas picked up her second win of her senior season with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over ESU, followed by Capoferri with her fourth consecutive victory, winning 12 of 18 games in No. 2 singles.
 
Despite the strong entrance into doubles play, ESU caught fire and responded by taking the final four flights of singles competition.
 
Konas and Capoferri were an impressive pairing in doubles action, opening play by narrowly missing victory in an 8-6 setback.
 
The Golden Bears (2-11, 0-5 PSAC) return home for their final matchup of the season in non-conference action against Philadelphia University for Senior Day on Monday, April 17, beginning at 2 p.m. at Keystone Courts.
