PITTSBURG, Kan. - Senior pole vaulter
Emma Sullivan (Phoenixville, Pa./Methacton) of the Kutztown University women's track and field team performed brilliantly at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday, finishing seventh and earning All-America status as she shattered her own school-record with a mark of 12-10.

Sullivan exceeded expectations on Friday as she headed into the NCAA Championships as one of the final three seeds in the field with her mark of 3.80m (12-05.50).

The Phoenixville native becomes just the 10th KU women's track and field athlete of all-time to earn All-America status during the indoor season and the 25th including both the indoor and outdoor season. She is the first All-American for Kutztown since the 2011 season.

Sullivan started off by clearing 11-10 and 12-2 relatively easily. She then broke her previous school-record with a vault of 12-6 on her third and final attempt at the height, one of just 10 competitors to do so.

Sullivan then shattered her school-record once again with a vault of 12-10, which earned her All-America status as just seven competitors successfully cleared the mark.

The final three attempts in the pole vault for Sullivan came at 13-1.75. She failed to clear the height along with four of the other six remaining competitors. Sullivan's mark of 12-10 was tied for the third-highest among the field during the event.

Grand Valley State's Jaime Roberts won the event with an astounding vault of 13-5.75. Just behind her in second place was Missouri Southern's Melanie Bower with a height of 13-1.75.

Sullivan's brilliant 2015-16 indoor season in the pole vault included breaking her own school-record several times, a PSAC title and earning All-America status.

The 2016 outdoor season looks promising for Sullivan as she comes off of one of the most successful indoor seasons in school history.

Kutztown starts its outdoor season on Thursday, March 17, at the 49er Classic for multi competitors and on Friday, March 25, for the entire team. Â
