KUTZTOWN, Pa. – In conjunction with their respective home matches, the Kutztown University field hockey and women's tennis teams will show their support for cancer research next Saturday, Oct. 3.
The tennis match is against Edinboro at 11 a.m. at the Keystone Courts, and field hockey takes on Slippery Rock at 1 p.m. at Andre Reed Stadium.
The tennis team is holding Breast Cancer Awareness Day and will be raising funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. KU will warm up with pink tennis balls before the matches start, and each player will be wearing pink in honor of breast cancer. Supporters at the match will have a chance to win a Wilson "Hope" tennis bag and Wilson "Hope" tennis balls, both donated by Fromuth Tennis in West Lawn, Pa.
There will be a table set up at the match that has pink ribbon pins and breast cancer awareness brochures, courtesy of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
During the introductions, each player will have the opportunity to honor someone who has battled breast cancer and will dedicate their match to them. Donations for the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be taken throughout the duration of the match, and can be found online by
