KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University field hockey team squares off against the Crimson Hawks of Indiana University of Pennsylvania this Friday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m. at Andre Reed Stadium. The game will coincide with Kutztown's Fall Sports Fest, which will include free t-shirts, prizes and discounted concessions for KU students and fans in attendance.
Â
The sixth-ranked Golden Bears enter the game with a 3-2 record and will look to start their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schedule on a good note.Â
Â
Kutztown is poised for its first victory over Indiana (PA) since Sept. 15, 2007. Indiana (PA) enters the game with a 2-1 record and was tied against top-ranked Millersville on Saturday before play was suspended in the middle of the second overtime.
Â
Senior
Anna Behm (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) is once again at the helm of the Kutztown offense, as she is the leader in both goals and points for the Maroon and Gold. She is also tied for most assists on the team with
Madison Wampler (York, Pa./West York Area) and
Rayann Fink (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood), who all hold two apiece.Â
Â
Behm is currently sixth in school history in career goals with 41 and will continue her climb in the record books. Behm not only leads the PSAC, but leads Division II with seven goals and 16 points.
Â
On the defensive side of the ball, senior goalie
Kayla Denlinger (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) has put up some stellar numbers early on in the season. Her 86.1 save percentage is tied for second-best in the PSAC and in Division II, as she continues to be a reliable line of defense for the Golden Bears.
Â
Continuing with the defense, the team as a whole has pitched two shutouts and has allowed a total of six goals in five games this season. The leader of the defense is Fink, the 2014 Team MVP, who has started in every single game of her career. As previously mentioned, Fink has two assists on the season and also contributed a defensive save as well.
Â
As for Indiana (PA), Kutztown will want to keep its eyes out for Haley Fidler, Brittany Thornton, and Kalista Gioglio, who are the lone goal scorers for the Crimson Hawks in the beginning of their season.Â
Â
Before, during and after the game on Friday, Kutztown University will be giving out a wide variety of prizes and giveaways. For starters, all KU students who swipe their ID will be placed in two raffles; the first will be for a $25 Ozgood's gift card and the other will be a Pepsi Prize Pack that is worth up to $500.
Â
Next, the first 200 KU students that come to the game will be given a free t-shirt. During the game, fans will have the opportunity to enjoy free popcorn and the Dollar Dog Deal, which will include a hot dog, a Pepsi product or bottled water, and a bag of Unique Pretzels, all for just $1.
