Final Brackets LANCASTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University wrestling team sent most of its roster to Lancaster on Saturday to compete in the Franklin & Marshall Open.
Seven Golden Bears won multiple matches, five of which won all of their matches before bowing out of the tournament.
Andre Petroski (Springfield, Pa./Springfield (Bloomsburg)) won a team-high three matches, all coming by seven or more points. He opened his day with a win by decision, and followed with wins by technical fall and major decision.
Ziad Haddad (Orefield, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic (North Carolina)) won both of his matches by major decision for a 2-0 record and improving to 13-0 on the year. He extended his winning streak, and his streak of not getting taken down to 38 matches, dating back to the beginning of last season.
At 141 pounds,
Matt Benvenuto (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) opened his day with a pin over a Division I opponent in 6:36, and closed his day with a major decision for a 2-0 record.
Matt Martoccio (Kintnersville, Pa./Council Rock South (Lock Haven)) posted two wins by technical fall in his two competed matches. He combined to post a 38-7 score.
Ryan Krecker (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area (Campbell)) opened his KU career with a 2-0 record, including a pin over Hunter Fenk of Shippensburg in 3:53.
Julio Arredondo (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) saw the most action of any Golden Bear, competing in four matches. He won his first two matches in the championship bracket, including a major decision over a Temple University wrestler, and then dropped his final two matches of the day.
Brandon Wolfe (New Castle, Del./Delcastle Technical) also wrestled in four matches and posted a 2-2 record. After being pinned in his first match of the day, he responded with two victories by major decision for a combined score of 25-4.
