Fisher voted 2024-25 KU Male Coach of the Year

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Head coach Robert Fisher and the Kutztown wrestling team had a season for the record books last year. With the successes of the program, Fisher was voted the 2024-25 Dr. Dennis Roth KU Men's Coach of the Year, announced Friday.

It is the fourth time he has been honored on the men's side. Fisher, also the women's golf head coach, was rewarded with the Dr. Dorothy Moyer Women's Coach of the Year in 2018.

This past season, Fisher was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after leading some of Kutztown's best wrestling in program history in 2024-25. The 24th-year head coach enjoyed massive success in dual competition this season, beginning early with a 30-point win against Frostburg State and a 40-point win over Fairmont State. The team opened their home season with a program-record 50-point shutout over American International, followed by a six-point upset over 14th-ranked Gannon while holding their final three opponents to a 102-30 scoring mark. Fisher's efforts earned him the NCAA Super Region I Coach of the Year honor, the first regional recognition of his career.

He earned his 250th career victory in a 25-12 dual victory over Millersville on Feb. 7.

In the postseason, Fisher guided the Golden Bears to their best ever finish at NCAA Championships, eighth. He also coached a program-record four All-Americans.

Presented annually since 1993, the Kutztown University Athletics Dr. Dennis Roth Men's Coach of the Year award recognizes the coach of a men's varsity sport for leading their team to success in a given academic year. KU's annual athletic awards are selected through a vote of the department's administration, head coaches and support staff.
