SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against the Shippensburg Raiders in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game Saturday afternoon at Robb See Field.

The Golden Bears (1-3, 1-3 PSAC) out-played Shippensburg (3-1, 3-1 PSAC) in the first half, outshooting their opponent 10-4 and earning six corners, however both squads went into halftime scoreless. KU had a great opportunity right before the buzzer, when junior Mariah Dimm (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) knocked a shot off the lower left post.

The tables quickly turned in the second half when Shippensburg freshman Casey Rightmyer broke through the KU defense and put one under goalie Alina Rakiewicz (Denver, PA/Cocalico) 22 seconds into play. Kutztown got off nine more shots in the second half but was unable to knock in a goal.

It was Kutztown's first loss to Shippensburg since 2008, with the Golden Bears winning the six previous matchups against SU.

Junior forward Sam Costello (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) led the attack with seven shots and Rakiewicz made five saves in the net for KU.

KU heads to Greensburg, PA on Wednesday, Sept. 18 to face off against recent PSAC addition Seton Hill at 4 pm.
