PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback against La Salle Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match.
 
KU started the day by securing all three doubles matches, however was only awarded one team point due to Division I rules.
 
Top Golden Bears Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) and Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Brian Balico and Joseph LaBate, 8-4.
 
Rich Lichtenwalner (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Ben Nace (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) squeezed out a 9-8 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Matt Maguire (Centurion, South Africa/Tuks Sports School) and Ken Beebe (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett) grabbed an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
Desai again saw LaBate at the No. 2 singles spot, grabbing the only other victory for the Golden Bears in the defeat (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
 
Kutztown wraps up its fall season 0-1. Desai was crowned the singles individual champion at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships, while also teaming up with Amin to take the doubles championship.
