NEW YORK and EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Kutztown University placed four student-athletes in the top seven of the weight throw at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg as the Golden Bears competed both there and at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory in New York.

Maria Hoover (Fivepointville, PA/Garden Spot) (Fivepointville, Pa./Garden Spot) finished second with a throw of 45-5.75 (13.86) and was joined in the top seven of the weight throw.
Rosealine Farrell (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) took fourth with a toss of 43-11.75 (13.40). In fifth was
Joan Wagner (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley) (Titusville, N.J./Hopewell Valley) with a heave of 40-11 (12.47), while
Michelle Koren (Allentown, PA/Allen) (Allentown, Pa./Allen) was seventh at 39-7.75 (12.08).
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/Southwestern) (Hanover, Pa./Southwestern) was second in the long jump with a leap of 16-11.5 (5.17).
Frances McNally (Drexel Hill, Pa./Springfield) (Drexel Hill, Pa./Springfield) captured second place in the 1,000-meter run. Her time of 3:06.00 was just under eight seconds faster than teammate
Lauren Marron (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South), who was sixth in 3:13.99.
KU took third and fourth in a pair of events.
Rachel Eshleman (Lancaster, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was third in the high jump, clearing 5-4.25 (1.63).
Sarah Kimsey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) (Montrose, Pa./Montrose Area) topped 5-2.25 (1.58) to take fourth.
Maria Borland (Hagerstown, MD/Hagerstown)'s (Hagerstown, Md./Hagerstown) 5:28.75 edged out her sister for third place in the mile.
Stephanie Borland (Hagerstown, MD/Hagerstown) (Hagerstown, Md./Hagerstown) ran a 5:30.20.
Kimsey was also sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 34-0.75 (10.38).
Jill Kostishion (Hilltown, PA/Pennridge) (Hilltown, Pa./Pennridge) was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.72. In seventh place was
Megan Reilly (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) with a time of 2:27.02.
Bria Evans (Philadelphia, PA/G.W. Carver of E&S) (Philadelphia, Pa./G.W. Carver) captured fourth in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.05 and also took sixth in the 55-meter dash in 7.59.
Two KU competitors tied for sixth in the pole vault. Both
Regina Ryan (Whites Crossing, PA/Lakeland) (Whites Crossing, Pa./Lakeland) and
Rachel Schaefer (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) cleared 10-6 (3.20).
Harman was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.05, two hundredths of a second faster than
Torrey Hollis (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville), who was seventh.
Paige Schoffstall (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Blue Mountain) (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) was the eighth finisher in the 500-meter dash in 1:30.87.
The 4x400-meter relay of Evans, Harman, Reilly and McNally claimed fifth place in 4:15.05.
At New York, Kutztown's only entry on Saturday was the 4x400-meter relay team of
Caleigh Coates (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Brooke Mathews (Reedsville, PA/Indian Valley) (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley),
Erin Miller (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) (Cornwall, N.J./Cornwall) and
Kristen Slack (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished with a KU season best time of 4:02.86.
There was no team scoring at either meet.
Kutztown is back in action on February 10 at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games in New York and on February 11 at the Valentine Invitational in Boston.
