Box Score KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University picked up its fourth win in its last five tries with a hard fought 3-0 win over Holy Family in non-conference action.
While the Golden Bears swept the Tigers, none of the sets were decided by more than five points and KU needed a late comeback in set three for the sweep. After winning 25-20 and 25-22,
Kutztown trailed 24-22 in set three, but battled back with three straight points including back-to-back kills by
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/South Western) to make it 25-24. With the scored tied 26-26,
Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) dumped the ball over the net for a kill and Holy Family hit its next attack wide as KU picked up the victory.
Harman had a match-high 10 kills and added 11 digs for the double-double. She and
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) combined to go 18-of-41 attacking with just a single error between them. Braga added eight kills and a team-high 13 digs.
Nicole Brumbley (Oxford, PA/Oxford) matched Braga's eight kills and led all players with five blocks.
Gomber had 18 assists, splitting time with
Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy), who dished out a dozen.
Emily Heppler (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) had 12 digs.
Kutztown hit .351 in the match, while limiting the Tigers to .183.
Charlotte Sabatano led Holy Family with nine kills, while Devyn Ingram had 28 assists. Madi Mcshane led all players with 16 digs.
The Golden Bears host Shippensburg on October 26 at 7 p.m.
