Box Score KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University fought off 10 consecutive match points to tie the third set at 24, but first place Lock Haven emerged with a 27-25 win to sweep the Golden Bears.
The Bald Eagles led 24-14 in the third set before a
Chelsea Braga (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach (Fairleigh Dickinson)) kill ignited KU's run. The Golden Bear defense frustrated what had been an efficient attack game by Lock Haven into four straight errors in the run, as well.
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) continued her strong play with a team-high 11 kills.
Nicole Brumbley (Oxford, PA/Oxford) added seven kills and tied
Brianna Risch (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) for the team lead with two blocks.
Emily Heppler (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) had a team-high 13 digs, while Braga also reached double digits with 11.
Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) led the team with 17 assists and
Dana Wright (Warminster, PA/Saint Basil Academy) added 13.
Grace Novacek, Gao Xuan and Kaleigh Hudak all had 11 kills for the Bald Eagles. Xuan also led all players with three service aces. Alexa Garrity dished out 40 assists and Erin Walsh added 26 digs.
KU is back in action when the team travels to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. match in PSAC East action.
