LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Kutztown University's
Rachel Eshleman (Lancaster, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week after a record-setting performance at the Bison Open & Multi.
Eshleman high jumped 5-7 to tie for first at the meet with a Division I athlete from Monmouth. More importantly, however, the sophomore set both a Kutztown University record and reached and NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
The height moved her into first place in the PSAC by two inches and puts her in a tie for 13th in Division II in 2011-12.
Eshleman added a full inch to the previous record, set by Amanda Schaeffer in 2000.
The Golden Bears are back in action on February 3-4 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
