KU Honors Seniors In Final Home Meet Against C.W. Post

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Seniors Lauren Malloy (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), Stephanie Kearns (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), Jordan Shapiro (Yardville, N.J./Princeton), and Monica Fisher (Secane, Pa./Upper Darby) of the Kutztown University swimming team will grace fans at Keystone Pool with their presence for the last time on Friday, January 21 as they host C.W. Post University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for its final home meet of the 2011-12 season. The meet is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

The Golden Bears (4-2 overall, 3-2 PSAC) are coming off a strong performance from last week as it took down Millersville University, 120-74 on Saturday at Keystone Pool. KU handed the Marauders its first dual meet loss of the season.

Kutztown dominated the meet as it won eight of the 11 events. However as the season is winding down, the Golden Bears are looking to lower their times and are striving to get season and career-best times. KU will definitely be put to the test when it competes against the Pioneers (4-0 overall) on Friday. C.W. Post has not lost a dual meet all season but KU is ready for the challenge.

KU will have to make a quick turnaround as it travels to Lock Haven University for its regular season finale at Zimmerli Pool beginning at 1 p.m. The Lady Eagles (5-0 overall, 3-0 PSAC) will be looking to maintain its perfect dual meet record against Kutztown.

However, the 2011-12 Kutztown squad is a dedicated bunch who is led by great front-runners. That's especially why Friday will be an emotional yet overjoyed day as KU's "Fantastic Four" are honored for their dedication to the program on Senior Day.

The quartet of Malloy, Kearns, Fisher, and Shapiro has seen their names written in the KU All-Time lists, competed at the NCAA Championships, complied season and career best times at the PSAC Championships, and most importantly been named PSAC Scholar-Athletes and Dean's Lists candidates.

Whether it's their vocal leadership or guidance in the pool, the senior class has left its mark on the program. The seniors are not only hard workers but they believe in having fun while practicing and competing.

With the PSAC Championships approaching in February, Kutztown knows what it has to do in order to achieve its goals. Whether its competing to the best of their ability, lowering a time, or trying to get on the KU All-Time list, the Golden Bears have already had a lot to smile about this season.
