Biography

2011-12: Shapiro made her third consecutive trip to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. In the prelims, she finished 20th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.69) which is second on the KU all-time top ten performance list. She was 17th in the 100-yard back with a career-best time of 57.40 that is second on the KU all-time list. At the PSAC Championships, she was eighth in the 50-yard free (24.33).That time is third on the KU all-time list. Kutztown finished ninth at the 2012 PSAC Championships. KU was named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Scholar All-American team for the eight consecutive season.

2010-11: Shapiro qualified for the 2011 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships in San Antonio, TX. At NCAAs she finished 21st in the 200-yard backstroke and 20th in the 100-yard backstroke with a career-best 57.58. At the 2011 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, she finished third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.23), seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (58.07), and 13th in the 50-yard freestyle (24.26).

She appears on the KU all-time list four times. She is second in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, and 200-yard backstroke, and ninth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.53).


2009-10:  She qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Swimming and Division Championships and swam the fourth fastest time in school history in the 50-yard freestyle (24.68). She qualified for the PSAC Championships. Shapiro swam her best times of the season during the PSAC Championships. She finished ninth in the 100-yard backstroke (59.65), ninth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.89). She helped the 800-free relay team take second place (7:43.58) and a member of the 400-medley free relay team that finished fifth (3:56.86) at the PSAC Championships. Also a member of the school record 200-medley relay team (1:47.47). She helped the Golden Bears win a school record 15 matches and finish fourth overall at the PSAC Championships. Currently, Shapiro is second all-time in the 50 freestyle (24.44), seventh in the 100-freestyle (54.99) and second in the 100-backstroke (59.65).

2008-09:
At the Golden Bear Invite, Shapiro earned a time of 2:08.13, an NCAA cut-time in the 200-yard backstroke.
