SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Julia Kopcho (Pemberton, N.J./Camden Catholic), Phoebe Armes (Somerset, UK/Millfield School), Sarah Zeminski (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and Maggie Russell (Downingtown, Pa./Woodlynde School) all earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying standards for Kutztown women's swimming Wednesday evening as KU began its 2026-27 regular season with a 151-111 conference win at Shippensburg.
 
The Golden Bears finished the night with four cut times and it was from four different swimmers, three of the four winning their respective heats.
 
Kopcho, who won three individual events and led the winning 200 Free Relay team, recorded her PSAC time in the 500 Free in a time of 5:28.01. She also won the 200 Free and 1000 Free, and along with Russell, Ryleigh Czerwinski (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and Sara Bing (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North), placed first in the relay.
 
Zeminski won two heats, including the 100 Fly where she earned her cut time of 58.73. Russell was just behind at 1:00.09, and she also took first in the 50 Fly. Armes also won two events, with her PSAC standard tallied in the 200 IM at 2:17.57. Bing touched the wall first in the 50 Back.
 
Kutztown now has just about a month off before its next meet against Montclair State on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m., at East Stroudsburg University.
