Spring 2011 CSCAA NCAA Division II Scholar All-America Teams
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University women's swimming team was named to the College Swimming Coaches' Association of America (CSCAA) Spring 2011 Scholar All-America list announced by that organization recently.
Kutztown University's 3.27 cumulative grade-point average ranked 18th nationally. This is the fifth consecutive season and seventh time in the last eight years; KU has earned a spot on the CSCAA Scholar-All-America Team.
To earn CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors, a swim team must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the spring semester.
In addition, the following student-athletes were recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as 2010-11 scholar-athletes:
Kerry Choplin (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford),
Monica Fisher (Secane, Pa./Upper Darby),
Stephanie Kearns (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East),
Katie Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West),
Lauren Malloy (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic),
Krista Schlupp (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and
Allison Sheely (Enola, Pa./Trinity).
The Golden Bears had a strong year in the pool during the 2010-11 year. Kutztown finished with a 9-1 record in dual matches, finished first overall in three Invitationals, placed eighth at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships, set four school records, and had two student-athletes participate in the NCAA Division II championship meet in San Antonio, Texas.

Tim Flannery said. "These women are up 3 days a week and in the pool or weight room at 6:00 a.m. and come back in the afternoon and put in 7-8,000 yards of swimming. They're successful both in the pool and their studies, they get job done and I'm very proud of their efforts."
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming at the collegiate level.

The CSCAA recognizes outstanding achievements by coaches and swimmers; promotes communication and cooperation both within the sport of swimming and with our fellow Olympic sports; protects, promotes and seeks to expand competitive intercollegiate swimming programs; recommends rules and regulations to the NCAA; sponsors events; certifies new coaches; provides ongoing educational and leadership training for coaches and athletes; and serves as a source of information to its membership and for the general public.
