YORK, Pa. – Julia Kopcho (Pemberton, N.J./Camden Catholic), Sarah Zeminski (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and Annamarie Rodier (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) all placed in the top 11 of the 1,000-yard freestyle as the Kutztown University women's swim team concluded the opening day of the PSAC Championships sixth in the team standings, Wednesday, at the Graham Aquatic Center.
 
The trio of distance freestylers combined for 61 points in the 1,000 free. Kopcho led the way with a seventh-place finish in 10:34.35, while Zeminski was eighth in 10:35.17. Both times were personal bests, with Kopcho moving from seventh to third and Zeminski from sixth to fourth on the program's all-time top 10 list. Rodier swam 10:38.98 to finish 11th among 40 competitors to set a time.
 
Ana Soto (Hamburg, N.J./Vernon Township) won the B Final of the 50 free in 23.84 to take ninth overall and narrowly missed breaking the program record of 23.83 that she already holds by one one-hundredth of a second.
 
In the 200 individual medley, sophomore Phoebe Armes (Somerset, UK/Millfield School) set two new personal records on her way to a 13th-place finish. Armes swam 2:11.40 in preliminary heats to qualify for the B Final and advanced from seventh to fifth on KU's top 10 list with a career-best 2:09.89 in the finals. Junior Tatum Rothermel (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) established a new personal best time in prelims with a 2:14.60, good for 10th-fastest in program history.
 
Kutztown wrapped up the evening session with a ninth-place finish in the 800 free relay, where Kopcho, Sara Bing (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North), Rodier and Zeminski went 7:58.45.
 
West Chester leads the team standings convincingly with 330.5 points ahead of Bloomsburg with 202.5. Clarion (199.5), IUP (198.5) and Edinboro (138) make up the rest of the top five, while the Golden Bears are knocking on the door of the top five with 135 points heading into Thursday's events.
