CLARION, PA (October 9, 2010) – The Kutztown University volleyball team split a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matches by defeating Slippery Rock 3-1, and falling to California (Pa.) 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Morrow Field House.
Kutztown's overall record is 15-7 and 5-7 in the PSAC.
“This win is one of the best I can remember,” KU head coach John Gump said. “After losing a tough five set match to Cal, our kids came back 40 minutes later and beat a team on its home floor. It gives a lot of credit to the resiliency of our players.”
The Golden Bears played hard against Cal, who is ranked second in the PSAC West. Kutztown fell to the Vulcans, 25-11, 25-15, 23-25, 17-25, and 15-9. Against Cal, Kissling recorded 11 kills, 15 digs, and four blocks. Snell had 10 kills and six blocks for the Golden Bears. Katie Lutz was also a part of the action with six kills and nine blocks. Defensively, Lindsey Smith had 21 digs and Celia had 15 digs.
Kutztown returns to action Friday night when it hosts reigning PSAC East champion Lock Haven University at Keystone Arena, beginning at 7 p.m.
