SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's swim team dove into their season Saturday on the road, splitting a double dual against PSAC opponents. The Golden Bears collected a 111-93 victory over Shippensburg, but fell to West Chester, 117-82.
Steph Jeppesen (Bethlehem/Liberty) tallied two wins for the Golden Bears, winning the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke. She finished the 200 IM in 2:13.64. In the 100-yard breaststroke, she recorded a time of 1:06.55.
Also in the 100-yard breaststroke,
Lauren Piorkowski (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) finished second (1:11.14).
Jordan Shapiro (Yardville, N.J./Princeton) came in second for KU in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 25.24. She also came in second in the 100-yard freestyle (55.31).
Heather Wolkom (Rumson, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional ) nabbed second place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.02.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the Kutztown (1-1, 1-1 PSAC) team consisting of
Allison Sheely (Enola, PA/Trinity),
Krista Schlupp (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown), Shapiro and Jeppesen finished in 1:52.70.
The Golden Bears will host East Stroudsburg and Misericordia in another double dual on Saturday October 24 at Keystone Pool.
