CHESTER, Pa. -- Kutztown University women's track & field was represented in both the shot put and weight throw as the Widener Indoor Classic kicked off Friday evening at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
Sophomore
Maria Clark (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was the top finisher for the Maroon and Gold in the shot put with a PSAC qualifying mark of 12.51m (41-0.5) to place sixth among 47 competitors.
Sofia Beard (York, Pa./Red Lion) took 27th with a best throw of 10.42m (34-2.25).
In the weight throw, senior
Kennedy Bulger (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) led KU with a 21st-place finish in a 50 thrower field. Bulger threw 13.04m (42-9.5), while teammate Clark was 22nd at 12.98m (42-7) and Beard 45th at 11.03m (36-2.25).
The Widener Indoor Classic will conclude on Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center, where a large contingent of Golden Bears will be in action. Kutztown will also send four distance runners to compete in the 5k at Susquehanna University's Valentine Invite.
