Volleyball ranked seventh in Atlantic Region in first NCAA NPI rankings

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown women's volleyball team is ranked seventh in the Atlantic Region in the first edition of the NCAA Division II National Power Index (NPI) rankings.

The Golden Bears (19-5 overall, 7-2 PSAC East) are one of seven teams in the PSAC in the top 10 of the region, with Gannon (1), IUP (2), Shepherd (4), Clarion (5), Lock Haven (8) and Pitt-Johnstown (10) were the other members. KU is also 60th nationally with a 56.846 rating.

Kutztown is in a three-way tie with Shepherd and East Stroudsburg for second in the PSAC East Division, one-half game behind first-place Lock Haven.

The NPI is a new ranking system adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year to help evaluate teams for NCAA Tournament selection. The system uses a data-driven formula that considers a team's wins and losses, strength of schedule and quality of opponents.

Unlike traditional rankings, the NPI evaluates teams on a national scale, allowing programs from different conferences and regions to be compared using the same system.

Kutztown will compete Tuesday night as it travels to Holy Family for a non-conference match, the final one of the regular season, before hosting back-to-back nights of PSAC volleyball against the Bald Eagles (Friday) and Shippensburg (Saturday).
