Men's swimming returns from break with pair of PSAC tune up meets

NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's swim team got back to action for the first time in more than a month, Saturday, competing in the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational and PSAC Last Chance Meet at Big Spring High School.

The Golden Bears had one conference qualifying time in the 50-yard freestyle swim from sophomore Matheson Bair (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain), who came in second in a 28-swimmer field. Kutztown's 400 medley relay team of Bair, RJ Otten (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa), Zach Schurr (Chattanooga, Tenn./McCallie School) and Nevin Shaw (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) finished third in the Pidgeon Invitational in a field of six competing groups.

Kutztown finished competition with 196 points in the Pidgeon Invitational and 260 points in the PSAC Last Chance Meet.

The Golden Bears will see the pool one last time in the regular season, when they travel to Kings Point, N.Y. to compete in the Memorial Invite, hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy, on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m.
