KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Noah Micks (Newark, Del./Salesianum) returned Saturday's opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and fifth-year senior quarterback
Judd Novak (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) threw for four scores as the 11th-ranked Kutztown University football team concluded PSAC East play with a 45-16 Senior Day victory over Bloomsburg at Andre Reed Stadium.
Â
Micks, a sophomore wide receiver, carved through the Huskies' coverage team and raced down the KU sideline before putting a final juke on the kicker to send more than 5,000 spectators into a frenzy. The Newark, Del., native also made program history by joining Josh Mastromatto (2011) as the only players to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the same season.
Â
After a quick three-and-out by the defense, Kutztown (9-1, 5-1 PSAC East) used a balanced attack during a 15-play, 64-yard drive to double its lead on a 2-yard TD pass from Novak to
Kaden Weaver (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall).
Â
Bloomsburg (7-3, 4-2 PSAC East), winners of three straight coming in, got on the board in the final minute of the first quarter with a 33-yard field goal from Peter Kashynski, but the remainder of the first half belonged to the Maroon and Gold.
Â
Novak threw 5-yard touchdown passes to
Noah Kracyla (Townsend, Del./Middletown) and

Â
Kutztown responded to a scoring drive by the Huskies with a 24-yard
Gavin Pereira (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) field goal as time expired to carry a 31-10 advantage into halftime.
Â
The Golden Bear defense owned the third, forcing a turnover, three punts and two three-and-outs. On just the second play of the second half,
Kahlil Williams (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) popped the ball loose from receiver Justin Wolfe and
Mikey Gray (York, Pa./William Penn) recovered at the Bloomsburg 34.
Â
Later in the quarter, Novak found his fourth different receiver for a TD when he delivered a 14-yard dart to tight end
Luke Maxwell (Estell Manor, N.J./Delsea Regional) for a 38-10 lead with 7:58 remaining.
Â
Following a special teams touchdown, and four offensive touchdowns, the defense got in on the scoring party when
Trey Lear (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) intercepted a Zayd Etheridge pass early in the fourth and took it back 60 yards to make it 45-10. It was Lear's second pick six of the season and third interception.
Â
Kutztown averaged 39.8 yards per kick return on four attempts, Saturday, and is now averaging a Division II-best 30.11 yards per return for the season. The Golden Bears collected 22 first downs to Bloomsburg's 15 and held a 350-248 edge in total yards.
Â
Stewart (73 yards) and
Craig Miller (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) (28) led the way on the ground as KU totaled 128 rushing yards against the PSAC's second-best run defense, which was allowing just 86.3 yards per game. Kutztown, the league leader in run defense at 72.2 ypg, held the Huskies to 82 yards on 29 attempts (2.8 yards per carry).
