KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Redshirt junior quarterback
Judd Novak (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) threw for a season-high three touchdowns in leading the offense to almost another 50-point effort this past Saturday and was voted this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week, announced Monday.
Â
Novak threw for 203 yards and the three scores as No. 5 Kutztown opened PSAC East play with a convincing 49-10 victory at Shepherd.
Â
Novak found
Steven Burkhardt (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) with a 9-yard TD pass at 4:48 of the first quarter to put the Golden Bears in front 7-0. He connected with Burkhardt again in the final minute of the first half for an 8-yard TD that made it 35-3.
Â
Late in the third, the redshirt junior tossed a 22-yard scoring strike to wide receiver
Luke Szabo (Sparta, N.J./Sparta). He also added two carries for 23 yards.
Â
Novak has multiple passing touchdowns in three of Kutztown's four games this season and the Saturday's performance marked the fourth time in his career with three or more passing TDs in a game. The Manheim, Pa., native has eight TD passes against zero interceptions thus far in 2025 and is one TD pass shy of 50 in his career.
Â
Kutztown is back home this weekend and welcomes Shippensburg to Andre Reed Stadium Saturday, Oct. 4, for a noon kickoff.
