KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Kutztown University's four scorers each shot rounds in the 80s, Friday, as the Golden Bears concluded the first round of the 2025 PSAC Women's Golf Championship at Berkleigh Golf Club fourth in the team standings.
Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs), last year's third-place finisher, is tied for third following the opening round after shooting a team-best 8-over par 80.
Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) recorded a season-best 85 to sit 16th overall, while
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) carded an 86 (20th) and
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) an 87 (25th).
Kutztown's 50-over 338 team score marked its third-lowest round of the 2024-25 season. The Golden Bears are 10 shots out of the runner-up spot and just 14 off Gannon's leading pace of 324.
Graham produced a team-high eight pars and birdied the 117-par 3 12th during her eighth round of 80 or better this season.
Klements and Cohen found their groove at exactly the right time for the Maroon and Gold, each dropping seven pars on the day.
Stutz had the best front nine of any Golden Bear with an even par 35 that included two birdies and five pars. Her birdies came on the par 4, 315-yard fourth and par 4, 335-yard seventh.
Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) carded three pars in shooting 96 to complete Kutztown's lineup.
Two-time defending champion Ditte Petersen of Gannon leads the individual standings after the first round with a 6-over 78. Margaux Solis of West Chester is second at 79 (+7), with KU's Graham and three others sharing third at 80 (+8).
Saturday's second round is scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m. The Golden Bears aren't scheduled to send their first player out until 11:20 a.m.
