Graham ties for fifth, Golden Bears take sixth at Millersville Spring Invitational

QUARRYVILLE, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) tied for fifth overall with a 12-over par 84 and the Kutzown University women's golf team battled cold and rainy conditions to bring home a sixth-place finish in Saturday's Millersville Women's Spring Invitational at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club.

Graham was the only Golden Bear to register a birdie on the day, doing so on No. 2, a par 5 playing at 473 yards. She added six pars on her way to 84, sharing fifth on the leaderboard with Bloomsburg's Noemi Krizso and Julia Zonca, and Clarion's Hailee Liptak.

Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) finished just outside the top 20 after shooting her best round of the spring with a 19-over 91. The sophomore from Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J., carded three pars during her round, which was good for a 22nd-place tie. Teammate Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) also collected three pars and shot 93 (+21) to tie for 28th.

Freshman Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) was KU's final scorer with one par and a 102 (+30). Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) drew into the lineup and had a pair of pars in shooting 104 (+32) on the 5,800-yard par 72 course.

Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) competed as an individual and finished with a par during her round of 94 (+22). Peet tied for 31st in the 63-player field.

Host Millersville won the tournament with a 51-over 339. Bloomsburg was second at 345 (+57) and California (Pa.) took third at 350 (+62). Emma Schotsch of Millersville was the medalist over Shepherd's Sara Veara on a second tiebreaker after both players completed their rounds with 9-over 81s. The first tiebreaker, a comparison of back nine scores, couldn't break the deadlock as both shot 40 coming in but Schotsch had the better score on the course's No. 1 handicap hole (No. 8).

Kutztown will play in two tournaments next week to wrap up the regular season ahead of the PSAC Championship at the end of the month. The Golden Bears are scheduled to compete in the Bloomsburg-hosted Husky Invitational on Thursday, April 17, and the ESU Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 19.
