Conference names Fisher Coach of the Year, seven Golden Bear wrestlers recognized on All-PSAC teams

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference released its Wrestling All-Conference and major award winners for the 2024-25 season, with Kutztown University wrestling head coach Robert Fisher being named the Coach of the Year and seven wrestlers being honored on the three All-Conference teams, as voted on by the conference's head coaches and announced by the conference on Friday.

Fisher was named the conference's best coach for the second time in his career after leading some of Kutztown's best wrestling in program history in 2024-25. The 24th-year head coach enjoyed massive success in dual competition this season, beginning early with a 30-point win against Frostburg State and a 40-point win over Fairmont State. The team opened their home season with a program-record 50-point shutout over American International, followed by a six-point upset over 14th-ranked Gannon while holding their final three opponents to a 102-30 scoring mark. Fisher's efforts earned him the NCAA Super Region I Coach of the Year honor, the first regional recognition of his career.

Bailey Gimbor (Bernville, Pa./Hamburg) (165 lbs.), Dalton Gimbor (Bernville, Pa./Hamburg) (174 lbs.) and Matthew Weinberg (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) (184 lbs.) were named to the First Team following All-American performances at nationals. Weinberg picked up his fourth consecutive First Team nod after a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, Bailey earns his second spot on the First Team, while Dalton reaches First Team All-PSAC status after previously earning Second- and Third-Team honors. Both brothers earned eighth in their weight classes at the national championships.

Javien DeLeon (Allentown, Pa./Liberty) (133 lbs.), Wayne McIntyre (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) (197 lbs.) and Freddie Retter (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) (285 lbs.) earned spots on the Second Team, all gaining recognition for the first time in their careers. McIntyre and Retter claimed their honors after making it to the NCAA Championships, where Retter finished fifth and claimed All-American honors in an abbreviated season for the two-sport athlete. McIntyre finished second at regionals, while DeLeon just missed out on a ticket to the national stage after finishing the season with a 16-8 record.

Jimmy Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) wraps up his career with a spot on the All-PSAC Third Team at 149 lbs., his third All-PSAC Third Team recognition of his career and first with the Golden Bears. He reached the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career, capping off his career with a 21-9 overall record.

DeLeon, McIntyre, Retter and the Gimbor brothers have remaining eligibility left to build on this past season's success in 2025-26, a season in which they will look to remain among the top teams in the PSAC after finishing second in the regular season standings.
