LANCASTER, Pa. – Zach Schurr (Chattanooga, Tenn./McCallie School), Nevin Shaw (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), RJ Otten (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and Matheson Bair (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) set a new program record in the 400 Medley Relay Friday night to highlight Kutztown on day one of the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster.
 
The quartet finished in a time of 3:30.19. The previous record was 3:31.34, swam in 2003.
 
During the morning preliminary rounds, Shaw finished eighth overall out of 37 competitors in the 200 IM in a PSAC cut time of 1:55.79 to qualify for the final. The time was second-fastest in program history. Bair qualified for the final in the 50 Free with a PSAC time of 21.27, fourth all-time. And a trio of Golden Bears earned cut times and final spots in the 500 Free, as Reilly Jones (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), Andrew Pletz (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Otten earned their spots.
 
Kutztown set three top-ten times in the finals, including claiming the top time in the 400-medley relay.
 
Day two of the Invitational is set to begin with the preliminary rounds at 9:30 a.m., tomorrow. Finals are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
