KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown men's swimming received its first win of the 2025-26 season and the program's first victory since its return to NCAA competition last year after a 15-year hiatus. KU downed Edinboro and lost to Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tri-meet split Saturday evening at Keystone Natatorium.
Four Golden Bears earned PSAC qualifying marks, including
Andrew Pletz (Allentown, Pa./Parkland),
Reilly Jones (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury),
Matheson Bair (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) and
Nevin Shaw (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), each of them recording two PSAC cut times.
Pletz and Shaw also etched their names into program lore as Pletz swam a 9:59.99 in the 1000 Free, which ranks fourth all-time in program history and Shaw finished the 200 IM at 1:59.06, sixth-best at KU. Pletz also had a PSAC qualifying mark in the 500 Free and Shaw the 100 Breaststroke.
Jones earned cut times in both the 200 and 500 Free, while Bair had his in the 50 and 100 Free.
Kutztown's 200 Medley Relay team, consisting of Bair, Shaw,
RJ Otten (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and
Zach Schurr (Chattanooga, Tenn./McCallie School) won event at 1:38.93.
Kutztown will next swim against Franklin & Marshall in a neutral site at Millersville University next Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m.
