MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Kutztown University men's swimming team came away with a handful of PSAC qualifying marks and a program top-ten in the 1000 freestyle, but dropped their Saturday dual meet against Montclair State, 165-96, at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool.

Freshman Andrew Pletz (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) improved on his personal best mark in the 1000-yard freestyle race, shaving off three seconds for a top time of 10:08.63 on the day, the seventh-best mark in program history and one of six PSAC qualifying marks set in the dual meet.

The Golden Bears (0-2) squad had five top finishes on the afternoon, but couldn't quite pull out a dual victory over the Red Hawks (1-1).

Nevin Shaw (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) picked up a pair of PSAC qualifying marks in his first-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, putting up times of 1:00.25 and 2:14.97, respectively. Freshman Reilly Jones (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) claimed the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 4:58.23. Pletz was runner up to Jones by less than a second (4:58.88), but joined his teammate in earning a PSAC qualifying mark.

The Golden Bears host a double dual against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference foes Bloomsburg and Edinboro on Saturday, Nov. 1, inside the Keystone Natatorium, with competition beginning at 4 p.m.
