LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Sophia Knerr (Columbia, N.J./North Warren Regional) won the 5000-meter run and teammates Beth Schearer (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) (200m) and Maura Lenhart (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) (5000m) captured runner-up finishes to account for three of Kutztown University women's indoor track & field's six PSAC qualifying times or marks as the Bucknell Bison Open & Multi got underway Friday evening.

Knerr and Lenhart rose to the top of the time chart in the 5000m, which featured 17 student-athletes. Knerr, a senior, competed in the indoor 5k for the first time since placing 10th at the 2023 PSAC Indoor Championships. She turned in a new personal record of 18:30.80. Lenhart crossed the line second in 18:44.39.

A full field of 50 sprinters took part in the 200m and it was Schearer, the school record holder, leading the way for the Golden Bears. The sophomore from Springfield, Pa., recorded the second-fastest time of the meet with a 25.75. She was one of three PSAC qualifiers for KU in the event along with Raechel Bonner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) (eighth, 26.28) and Kiana Young (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) (10th, 26.30).

Only two field events were on the docket Friday, the pole vault and shot put. Taylor Funk (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) turned in another PSAC mark in the pole vault with a season-best 3.56m (11'8") to finish fifth.

Kutztown's distance medley relay team placed third of 11 squads with a time of 12:42.02.

A full day of action awaits Saturday as the Bison Open & Multi concludes from Gerhard Fieldhouse. Events will begin at 11 a.m.
