PHILADELPHIA – Mackey Donovan (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) recorded the fastest time in the 800-meter run for the second meet in a row and the Kutztown University women's indoor track & field team enjoyed six PSAC Championships qualifying performances Friday night in the Widener Winter Evening Invite at the University of Pennsylvania.

Donovan cut nearly seven-tenths of a second off her winning time from Alvernia last Saturday with a 2:21.12 on the banked track at UPenn's sparkling new Ott Center facility. The junior transfer from Central Connecticut State bested 44 other runners in recording her second straight PSAC qualifying time.

Kutztown student-athletes recording PSAC cut times or marks all finished within the top five of their events, Friday.

Sophia Knerr (Columbia, N.J./North Warren Regional) took second in the 3000-meter run with a new personal record of 10:32.70. The Bears continued to impress on the track as Beth Schearer (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) claimed third in the 200m (25.65) and Raechel Bonner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) third in the 400m (58.79).

Another top three finish for KU came from Taylor Funk (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) in the pole vault. The Denver, Pa., native equaled her best vault of the 2024-25 indoor season at 3.50m (11'5.75").

Delaney Beard (Sinking Spring, Pa./Governor Mifflin) also had a PSAC qualifying mark in the triple jump, where she finished fifth with a top jump of 11.44m (37'6.50").

Maura Lenhart (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) registered a top-five finish in the 3000m, taking fourth in 10:46.69. The Golden Bears got top 10 placements from Brook Smith (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) in the 60m (sixth, 8.05), Natalie Holland (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) in the pole vault (eighth, 3.20m/10'6"), Taniyah Lawler (Chester, Pa./Chester) in the 400m (ninth, 1:01.50) and Deandra Young (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) in the 800m (10th, 2:24.08).

UPDATE (SAT. 1/25): After being unable to complete the throwing events Friday, the shot put and weight throw were contested on Widener's campus, Saturday, Jan. 25. Maria Clark (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) placed fifth in the shot put with her top throw registering 11.90m (39'0.5"), while Kennedy Bulger (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) collected a top 10 finish in the weight throw with a best mark of 13.72m (45'0.25").

Kutztown is back in action next weekend at the Bucknell Bison Open and Multi.
