READING, Pa. -- Delaney Beard (Sinking Spring, Pa./Governor Mifflin) won the triple jump and Mackey Donovan (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) was fastest in the 800-meter run as the Kutztown University women's indoor track & field team competed for the first time in 2025 at Saturday's Alvernia Winter Invitational.

Beard and Donovan each put up PSAC qualifying performances in their event victories while the Golden Bears also got championship qualifying marks from pole vaulters Taylor Funk (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) and Natalie Holland (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg).

Beard, who already ranks second all-time at KU in the triple jump, topped 12 competitors in Saturday's meet with her best effort of 11.20m (36'9").

Donovan captured the fast heat of the 800m with a time of 2:21.80, which was more than three seconds clear of second-place and bested 34 other runners overall.

Funk tied for third in the pole vault by clearing 3.50m (11'11.75") and Holland was eighth at 3.35m (10'11.75").

KU got a trio of runner-up finishes on the day. Kiana Young (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) placed second in the 400m (1:00.73), the 4x400m relay team of Donovan, Aziah Wilkins (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), Jensen Kraft (Nutley, N.J./Saint Mary) and Grace Tedesco (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) were second of 12 teams in 4:21.29 and Sage Dunkleberger (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) took second in the 5000m (19:40.04).

Kutztown is scheduled to be back in action next Friday, Jan. 24, at the Winter Evening Invite, which will be hosted by Widener on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
