Graham leads Golden Bears to fourth after opening round of Millersville Fall Classic

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) recorded a birdie and 10 pars during an opening round 79 at the Millersville Fall Classic at Berkleigh Golf Club, Monday. Graham is fifth in the individual standings and the Kutztown University women's golf team is fourth in the team standings with 18 holes to play.

Graham, a sophomore from Carlisle, Pa., parred the first six holes and completed the front nine in 3-over par 38. Conditions worsened throughout the afternoon with rain intensity increasing but Graham and her teammates fought to stay ahead of the course. A birdie on the par 3 12th highlighted a 41 back nine as Graham finished with a 7-over 79. She's just six shots off the leading pace set by Alvernia's McKylie Boreman.

Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) led all KU players with two birdies and finished with an 86 (+14), good for 16th on the leaderboard. Stutz's first birdie came on the par 4 eighth and she followed that up with another on the par 3 15th. The sophomore also totaled five pars.

Sophomore Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) had seven pars on her way to an 87, while freshman Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) made four pars and a birdie on the par 3 third during her round of 88. Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) collected seven pars and shot 91.

Playing in its backyard, Kutztown also entered a few individuals in the tournament. Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) topped those entries with a round of 90 that included a birdie at No. 5, a 494-yard par 5. Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) shot 95 and Emma Nobles (North Wilkesboro, N.C./Wilkes Central) 99.

Kutztown shot 340 (+52) as a team on a competitive first day. The top seven teams in the eight-team field are separated by just 29 shots. Alvernia grabbed the lead after round one with a 324 (+36). West Chester (330), Millersville (335), KU (340) and Bloomsburg (341) make up the rest of the top five.

Final round play is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
