SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. –
Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) showed yet again why she is the team leader in scoring as the graduate student forward netted her fifth goal of the season in the 71st minute helped No. 8 Kutztown salvage a 2-2 draw at Shippensburg Saturday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division game.
Â
The Golden Bears (4-0-2 overall, 2-0-2 PSAC East), who kept their unbeaten streak going at six games to start the year, fell behind 2-1 in the 66th minute before Rossetti's strike.
Â
Kutztown played a very good game against a strong-willed and determined team in the Raiders (0-4-1, 0-2-1). The game had started and both teams played for the first 20 minutes before rain and lightning took over David See Field. After an hour delay, the weather was then deemed safe to continue competition. The first Kutztown goal was scored in the 21st minute by
Joslyn Stoltz (Levittown, Pa./Calvary Christian Academy), assisted by
Katelyn Economopoulos (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) off a corner kick.Â
Â
Shippensburg then fought back and scored two goals within seven minutes of each other, making the score 2-1 in the 65th minute. But it didn't take long for the Golden Bears attack to respond as they added another goal, this one by Rossetti, assisted by
Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) and
Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), to even the score.Â
Â
There were a total of 20 corner kicks taken, 18 of them belonging to Kutztown. The Golden Bears also outshot the Raiders 32-7 and
Cassidy Howes (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) had two saves in net for KU.
Â
Kutztown will play again on the road at Bloomsburg next Wednesday, Sept. 25th, at 1 p.m.Â
