KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's cross country team secured a second-place finish at the Division II/III Challenge on Friday evening. The event was held at the North Campus Course, with the men's race starting at 5:30 p.m., following a 30-minute delay.
Junior Adam Brocato (Reisterstown, Md./Calvert Hall) led the Golden Bears with an 8th-place finish, completing the 8,000 meter course in 27:02.54. Teammate Jacob Huber (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) finished 14th with a time of 27:11.48, while junior Robby Lloyd (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) placed 17th, crossing the line in 27:23.84. Connor Murphy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) and Peyton Small (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) finished in the top 25, securing 19th (27:27.47) and 23rd (27:37.37), respectively. Kayden Platania (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) and Cody Schabener (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) also contributed solid performances for Kutztown, with Platania finishing 37th in 28:32.06 and Schabener placing 42nd in 28:45.41.
Kutztown finished the meet with 81 points, placing second out of 12 competitive teams. The Golden Bears will next compete at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28.
