Golden Bears lead wire-to-wire in home meet victory over Caldwell

KUTZTOWN, Pa.-- The Kutztown University acrobatics & tumbling team (6-2) started strong, leading wire-to-wire in a 255.315-209.235 dual-meet victory over Caldwell (3-2) Tuesday evening at Keystone Arena. 

The Golden Bear program under head coach Karah Paull has been on an upward trajectory ever since the first season back in 2022 and Tuesday's victory was another feather in the cap, marking a program-record sixth win of the season. KU's 255.315 final score was the second-best score the Golden Bears posted in 2024. 

KU jumped out to a 35.900-28.800 lead after the compulsory events and extended the lead with an impressive showing in the acro events. The lineup of Jordyn Osner (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown), Abby Kiely (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), Hannah Fortuna (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park), Tiffani Lincoln (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta), and Sienna Barbarisi (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) posted a near-perfect 9.900 score in the 5-element, KU's best score of the season. The six-element squad followed that performance up with another season-best score of 8.850. The Golden Bears entered the half leading 92.550 to 78.250. 

Coming out of the break, KU squeaked out a 24.900 to 23.850 score in the toss, before pulling away with a 53.250 to 42.625 mark in the tumbling event. The Golden Bears capped off the meet with an 86.740 in the team event to secure a convincing 255.315-209.235 victory.

The Golden Bears are back at Keystone Arena for their final home match of the season and Senior Day this Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m. against Iona. It will be the first-ever meeting between KU and the Gaels.
