ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- In its first appearance at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectionals since 2019, Kutztown University women's bowling racked up a score of 5,831 across 32 Baker format games to position itself ninth of 20 teams at the Allen Park Sectional, Saturday.
This weekend's sectional is comprised of teams that have competed in certified college tournaments and conferences throughout the season. Qualification for sectionals is achieved by winning a conference or being one of the top-ranked teams in the country. The top four finishing teams in each of the four sectionals will advance to the ITC Nationals in Jeffersontown, Ky., April 17-20.
There are no head-to-head matches going towards Kutztown's win-loss record at sectionals, simply put, it's all about scoring. Teams completed 32 Baker matches on Saturday and will roll 32 more on Sunday.
Kutztown, which finished ninth at the Stratford (N.J.) Sectional in its most recent showing at ITC Sectionals back in 2019, was consistent in its play with seven 200+ games, including three in the first block of 16 games and four in the second block.
The Golden Bears' used a combination of
Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York),
Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township),
Alexis Schweizer (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West),
